Bleeding Mono

A Letter to Mono Lake

Dearest Beloved,

I don’t hear anything

But the buzz of an alkali fly

And the breath of a dog

The water is still,

Yet the thunder, it calls

My heart beats louder

My knees, they shake

Yet I am grounded

To the soul of the lake

When I am with you

All becomes quiet

I question your power

Because my mind is a riot

Chaos looms

And yet, you are calm

With you I’ll stay

I breathe through your palm

Clouds creep behind your mountains

Light sneaking in

Gray and blue surround you

You mirror all your kin

Reflections start to waver

By the light breeze across you

Although, my face looks strong

Clean, different, and new

Thank you for your serenity

Thank you for your time

Gratitude I give you

For showing me these are no ones troubles

But mine.

With all my love,

SKT
